KMD Architects

Project Description

Challenge

KMD Architects has built a solid reputation since 1963 as a firm dedicated to placemaking - the idea that a project needs to cast its own spell on the user and its community. An international firm, KMD Architects turned to LCI to help build visibility and support specific projects in the United States and abroad.

Tactics

LCI focused on KMD's key market sectors, including its justice division, government and healthcare practices. Those areas were experiencing swift growth and unveiling new, innovative projects. LCI targeted trade publications within those industries in an effort to help spur business for KMD by highlighting the success stories of the projects and illustrating the connection between place and function. Another area of outreach was part of KMD's Giving Back program. Projects include Mercy Housing in San Francisco, which develops affordable and safe housing communities for families, seniors and those with special needs; and the Bertschi School in Seattle, the country's first net-zero living science classroom.

Results

LCI's trade campaign was a success, landing KMD on the cover of Health Facilities Management Magazine, in addition to feature placements inArchitectural Record, Healthcare Construction and Operations, Correctional News, Building Design and Construction, the San Francisco Chronicle and the San Francisco Business Times. Branding and visibility outreach included pick up in online media including Yahoo Finance, Bloomberg and many others. Most importantly, the coverage resulted in increased queries to KMD for participation in new building projects.
